The Parade
The 72 Hours of Pont-de-Vaux kicks off
Eagerly awaited by many spectators, the Parade is the first major event of the 72Heures de Pont-de-Vaux. Offered free of charge in partnership with the town of Pont-de-Vaux, local spectators, Pont-de-Vaux and regional residents, as well as tourists from France and abroad, can get a sneak preview of the 72Heures crews and drivers.
The first stage of the parade:
exhibition
After passing the various on-site technical checks, which take place on Thursday mornings away from the public, the drivers gather in convoy to head for the Promenade at the southern entrance to Pont-de-Vaux. The set-up begins at 1pm.
The afternoon is devoted to displaying the machines and meeting the crews. Visitors can chat with the drivers, take photos and selfies, or collect autographs.
Continuation of the parade:
presentation of quads and crews
From 5.30 pm, the presentation of the crews will start on the podium with the parade of each quad with its crew.
At 7:30 pm, the main street will be closed to the usual traffic to allow visitors to wander around and meet the technical support and stewardship teams.
The merchants at the rendezvous
A number of stores, shops, restaurants and bars will stay open later with specific 72H offers. So in 2024, you could have your hair done until 10pm, sport ephemeral tattoos bearing the 72H logo, sample specialities created for the event, take advantage of happy hours, treat yourself to a piece of jewelry stamped 72H, and enjoy the promotions on offer.
The night parade
As the hour progresses, the machines are positioned in parade formation to form the convoy for the parade, which starts at around 10:15pm.
Since 2024, the parade has been extended to Place Poisat, at the crossroads of rue de l’hôpital and route de St Trivier, before looping back to Place Joubert and returning to the circuit. A more ambitious route in view of the growing number of spectators every year.
